Congratulations to the MC Wolves who won the 16U Championship in a 5-4 nail-biter against the MC Wildcats. The Wildcats had the tying run on 3rd with one out in the bottom of the sixth, but some stellar pitching and superb defense slammed the door and preserved a hard-fought victory!
In the earlier semi-final game, the Wildcats got off to an early lead against the Golden Lions and cruised to an 8-1 victory.
The 14U/16U league is an inter-park league with teams from Murphey Candler and other parks in the area. This league is actually open to girls 13 – 17 years old as of December 31 of the previous year. Each team typically has three events per week: 3 practices/week before the season starts—2 during the week and 1 on Saturday. Once the season starts it is 1 practice/week and 2 games/week with practice and 1 game on weekdays and 1 game on Saturday; however there could be a doubleheader on a Saturday to make-up rainout games. We normally play a 16 game season consisting of both intra-park games at Murphey Candler and inter-park games with Sandy Springs Youth Sports (Morgan Falls) and Ocee Park. Practices will be at either 6:00 or 7:30 and will rotate during the week, both time and day. Weeknight games typically start at as early as 6:30 or as late as 8:00, and Saturday games will start any where from 10:30am to 5:00pm depending on which park it is being played.
